RJD challenges BJP over offensive viral audio clip; demands proof or apology

In Patna, tensions are heating up between Bihar’s rival political parties over a controversial video clip. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan is calling on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to prove the clip is real and recent—or face a public apology. The video allegedly features derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother.

Gagan raised serious doubts about the clip’s credibility during a statement on Monday. He pointed out a big puzzle: How could the audio pick up clear abusive words from someone near the stage, but miss the voice of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav speaking directly into a microphone? “If this clip is really from Tejashwi’s speech, where did his voice go? It’s shocking that the crowd noise and stage comments got captured, but not the main speaker’s words,” Gagan said.

He slammed the language in the clip for disrespecting sacred terms like “mother” and “sister,” and accused the BJP of stooping low for votes. “It’s heartbreaking for Indian democracy that rivals are crossing every line of decency just to win elections,” Gagan added. He labeled the whole thing a “sponsored conspiracy” to smear Tejashwi Yadav and shift focus from real issues like public welfare and Bihar’s growth.

Gagan tied it to the BJP’s panic over Tejashwi’s popular Bihar Adhikar Yatra, a campaign rally series drawing huge crowds. “The BJP and its allies can’t handle the strong public support for Tejashwi’s push on Bihar’s progress. So they’re turning to lies and tricks to dodge the big questions,” he claimed.

The RJD made it clear they don’t tolerate such talk. “Our party’s values don’t allow indecent language against anyone. If someone did use abusive words about the Prime Minister or his mother, we condemn it fully and want a full investigation with tough punishment for the guilty,” Gagan stated.

The BJP hasn’t responded to the demand for proof or an apology yet. But party leaders have fired back hard. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Union Minister Nityanand Rai, BJP’s Giriraj Singh, IT cell head Amit Malviya, and Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan all blasted the RJD and Tejashwi, blaming them for the remarks. They say the clip surfaced at Tejashwi’s public meeting in Patepur Assembly constituency, Vaishali district, on Saturday.

Police in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan station have received a formal complaint about the incident.

This clash comes as Bihar gears up for elections, with political heat rising fast. Tejashwi Yadav’s Bihar Adhikar Yatra is pulling in massive turnouts, putting pressure on opponents like the BJP to respond.
