Baloch activists write to 9/11 victims, expose link between Pakistani agencies and terror groups

Baloch activists in Quetta have reached out to families of 9/11 victims in a heartfelt letter, marking the tragic 24th anniversary of the attacks. They mourn the innocent lives lost on that fateful day and remember the thousands of men, women, and children killed across the United States, NATO countries, Balochistan, and Afghanistan in the years that followed. The activists point fingers at Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and military agencies, accusing them of nurturing terrorist groups that fueled the chaos.
Human rights defender Mir Baloch shared the open letter on X (formerly Twitter), laying bare what he calls a well-documented truth. “Reports are everywhere showing how Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda found shelter in Pakistan, backed by ISI and military leaders with the quiet nod from politicians,” the letter reads. It claims these groups got cash, weapons, and supplies from Pakistan to carry out attacks, leading to huge losses for America, NATO allies, and Afghanistan.
The letter pulls no punches, quoting former ISI chief General Hamid Gul from an ARY TV interview. Gul reportedly said, “History will show that ISI beat the Soviet Union in Afghanistan using America’s money, and after 9/11, ISI beat America in Afghanistan again—with America’s money.” Another ex-ISI head, General Asad Durrani, allegedly admitted on global media that Pakistan pocketed US funds while secretly aiding the Taliban. He called it a “state of war” between America and Pakistan, not a partnership.
Activists slam Pakistan for turning the 9/11 aftermath into a money-making scheme. They say Islamabad raked in $33 billion in US aid—meant to fight terror—but used it as “blood money” for its own forces. “What should have crushed terrorism became a cash cow for Pakistan’s generals,” the letter states. Now, those same leaders are hurting Balochistan even more, the activists argue.
The Baloch people feel betrayed as Pakistan strikes deals with the Trump administration over Balochistan’s rich mineral resources and key assets—without asking the locals. “They’re selling our future for their profit, ignoring our oppression,” the letter warns. It urges everyday Americans not to let their tax dollars fund Pakistan’s tricks. Every such deal over Balochistan resources, they say, betrays justice and actually boosts the terrorism that endangers the world.
History’s lessons are clear, according to the letter. Past US leaders ignored Pakistan building its nuclear weapons under the guise of friendship. Today, Pakistan acts like a rogue state, threatening to “drown half the world” and teaming up with Iran to talk about wiping Israel off the map. “This isn’t just about one region—it’s a moral choice for America,” the activists conclude. “Stand for justice, support the Baloch nation, and stop empowering those who thrive on blood and terror.”
