Ajeya Warrior: Counter-terror exercise of Indian, British Army begins in Rajasthan tomorrow

New Delhi – The Indian and British armies will launch the 8th edition of their biennial joint exercise, Ajeya Warrior, on November 17. The 14‑day drill will take place at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Ajeya Warrior focuses on improving how the two forces work together on counter‑terrorism missions in semi‑urban settings. “The exercise is designed to strengthen operational synergy for joint counter‑terrorism operations in a semi‑urban environment under Chapter VII of the UN mandate,” said the Additional Directorate General of Public Information at the Indian Army’s Headquarters.

The drill reflects the shared commitment of India and the United Kingdom to global peace and security. By training side‑by‑side, the two armies aim to deepen defence cooperation, build camaraderie, and boost mutual trust.

Earlier this week, the Indian Army highlighted another major exercise, “Exercise Poori Vichar Prabhaharan,” run by the Eastern Command. That drill tested new capabilities with the Air Force, Navy, Indo‑Tibetan Border Police and other agencies. The army said it used a single integrated battle web, powered by the latest battlefield technology, night‑enabled vistas, all‑weather FPVs, swarm drones and UAS that operate across the electromagnetic spectrum. The goal was real‑time sensing, targeting and coordinated fires alongside attack helicopters and a composite Divyastra battery.

The Southern Command also showcased a final phase of Exercise Trishul at Madhavpur Beach, where Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, reviewed amphibious landing operations and joint land‑air‑maritime drills. Trishul involved large‑scale, multi‑domain manoeuvres across the Western Seaboard, desert sector and the Rann & Creek sector, demonstrating strong tri‑services synergy.

These exercises underline India’s growing partnership with the UK and its broader strategy to enhance joint operational readiness, technology integration and counter‑terrorism capabilities for the future.
