Despite her tall stature as artiste, Shefali Shah is anxious, nervous before starting new work
Mumbai, November 8 – Actress Shefali Shah is gearing up for the third season of her hit crime drama Delhi Crime, the series that earned an International Emmy for Best Drama and is now a fan favourite on Netflix. Even after all the buzz, Shah says she still gets a little nervous before a shoot.
She told while filming in Mumbai’s BKC area: “Whether it’s Delhi Crime season 3 or any other project, the first scene usually makes me anxious. I always wonder how I’ll answer when the director says ‘action!’ The excitement, the dread – it all stays the same.”
The actress explained how she digs into her character. “I start by skimming the script, then I hear Vartika’s voice in my head. One line can be delivered in many ways, so I brainstorm plans and talk with director Tanuja a lot. We jam over Vartika’s motives until it feels natural. Even the uniform changes my mindset.” She added that coming back to the team feels seamless, but the start of every shoot still feels tense.
In Delhi Crime, Shah plays Vartika Chaturvedi, a sharp police officer wrestling with complex investigations amid fierce public and political pressure. The show stands out for its realistic storytelling, emotional depth, and candid look at India’s law‑enforcement challenges. Critics worldwide praised its sensitivity, authenticity, and global impact, solidifying its place as one of Netflix’s most powerful Indian series.
Season 3 will drop on Netflix on November 13, bringing fresh drama and new twists to the beloved series. The return of Shah and her character marks the next chapter in Delhi Crime’s exploration of justice in the city.
