Raipur, Dec 12 (LatestNewsX) – As he celebrated his second year in office, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai declared that Naxalism in Chhattisgarh is “on the verge of extinction”. In a press briefing, he said that security forces had neutralised 505 Maoists, 2,386 insurgents had turned themselves in and 1,901 were arrested.
“Sixty‑nine security camps now operate in the most affected districts,” CM Sai explained, adding that the Niyada Nella Nar Yojana rehabilitation programme has helped many former militants integrate back into everyday life. He called eradicating the Maoist threat a major triumph over the past two years.
Many institutions shut down by violence have reopened – there are now fifty schools and several hospitals functioning again. Development works have reached 403 villages, which now boast paved roads, health centres, mobile towers and ration shops.
For ex‑Maoists who surrender, a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 will be paid for three years to aid their reintegration. CM Sai used the theme “Continuous Service, Continuous Development” to highlight the state’s progress since he took office on December 13.
Housing, agriculture, welfare and security were highlighted as the pillars of his administration. He insisted that his government has honoured promises that the previous Congress‑led government had missed. In his first cabinet order, he approved construction of 1.8 million homes, many already delivered and more under progress.
Farmers receive ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy purchases, with the payments cleared within a week. “We handed out outstanding bonuses totaling ₹9.7 billion to 1.3 million farmers shortly after taking charge, and we’ve also settled two years’ worth of back‑ordered bonuses,” he added.
Women’s empowerment remains a priority. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana rolled out 22 instalments, disbursing ₹14 billion directly into women’s bank accounts. Other schemes such as the Charan Paduka Yojana have been revived; free rations now reach 7.3 million poor families, and landless farmers receive ₹10,000 each.
The government also launched the Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana, allowing more than 37,000 devotees to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath at no cost.
On the industrial front, CM Sai highlighted investment proposals worth ₹8 lakh crore under the new policy, which includes Chhattisgarh’s first semiconductor plant in Nava Raipur. Rail expansion benefits from ₹47.5 billion invested, doubling the track length since 2014 and providing cargo services in Raipur. A detailed project report is underway to connect the Indravati and Mahanadi rivers through a pipeline.
Chief Minister Sai reiterated that the government’s focus on welfare, infrastructure and security reflects its commitment to “continuous service and continuous development”.
