Bengal: BJP leader writes to EC over Pakistani national declared as voter

In Kolkata on Thursday, former BJP MP Arjun Singh warned the Election Commission of India (ECI) about a Pakistani citizen from Karachi who has become a registered voter in the Naihati Assembly constituency of West Bengal.
The former MP wrote to the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Monoj Kumar Agarwal, naming the alleged voter as Saleha Khatoon, also known as Saleha Imran. According to Singh, Saleha holds a Pakistani passport (no. EU4173171) and has fraudulently obtained Indian documents, including an A‑ADHAAR card (No. 2797 4242 4102) and an EPIC card (Voter ID No. FKY0779223).
Her alleged address on the Indian documents is listed as 23, A.T. Ghosh Road, Naihati (M), Gorifa, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, 743166. Singh notes the EPIC is registered in the 104‑Naihati Assembly Constituency.
The former MP says this case is part of a wider pattern where foreign nationals—mostly from Pakistan—enter border districts such as North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad, Malda, Nadia, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri. They obtain fake Indian identity cards and enroll as voters, creating a threat to India’s demographic and security framework.
Singh urges the CEO’s office to launch a swift, high‑level investigation to identify any electoral officials who facilitated Saleha’s registration. He also requests the immediate cancellation of the EPIC cards and a strong recommendation to UIDAI to revoke the A‑ADHAAR cards held by Saleha and her children, Yawar Imran and Jazba Imran.
If proven true, this fraud could open doors for other social benefits, undermining trust in the voting system and national security. The case will be monitored closely by the Election Commission and West Bengal authorities.
