Pappu Yadav slams RJD over seat-sharing deadlock in grand alliance, gives advice to Lalu Yadav

Patna – Pappu Yadav, the Bihar MP who merged his Jan Adhikar Party with the Congress last year, slammed the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for the seat‑sharing stalemate that has hung over the Mahagathbandhan’s fight in the state’s high‑stakes Assembly elections.

Yadav, a six‑time Parliamentarian, told reporters that the RJD’s refusal to agree on candidate numbers has left the grand alliance in crisis and denied “downtrodden and unprivileged communities their rightful rights.”

He urged RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav to follow the “gathbandhan dharma” – the spirit of the alliance – and to admit the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) into the group. “Lalu ji, this is not right,” Yadav said. “The JMM deserves 3–4 seats. You should respect the alliance rules.”

The JMM, led by Hemant Soren, has been snubbed in the current seat‑share, and it now contemplates running alone in six constituencies.

With nominations for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly election already filed and the last day to withdraw candidates on October 20, the Mahagathbandhan risks falling apart as major parties still clash over several fronts.

Yadav also questioned the RJD’s decision to field a candidate in Lalganj, a key seat in Vaishali district. “If Congress has given a ticket to a candidate from the backward community, why is the RJD selecting a strongman? There can be no compromise on the interests of the extremely backward and Dalit communities,” he warned.

In Lalganj, Congress chose Aditya Kumar, while the RJD nominated Shivani Shukla, daughter of strongman Munna Shukla. The clash of candidates has drawn sharp criticism from Yadav, who insists that no Chief Minister can win without full support from the alliance.

As the deadline looms, the seat‑sharing dispute continues to dominate Bihar’s election headlines, with parties and observers alike watching closely to see whether the Mahagathbandhan can break the deadlock before the polls close.
