Victim stabbed twice in Times Square in broad daylight — remains ‘highly uncooperative’: police

A man was stabbed twice in Times Square early Saturday, near 1501 Broadway where a Raising Cane’s restaurant sits. Police say the 30‑year‑old victim was left bleeding from the chest and ribs after the attacker plunged a knife into his left side about 11:40 a.m.
The victim, who was shirtless and shouting “save the children,” was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, although he was “highly uncooperative” with police.
After the attack, the assailant fled the scene wearing a black jacket and dark pants. Witnesses and a nearby vendor noted the man was bleeding heavily and shouting repeatedly as he was injured. No one has yet been arrested, and the police are still trying to determine what sparked the assault.
The incident comes amid a surge in violent crime in Midtown South. NYPD data show felony assaults in the 13th Precinct rose 25% this year to 256 from 205 last year. Citywide, felony assaults are down 0.2%, but major crime fell 3% so far this year compared to the same period last year.
Police continue to investigate the Times Square stabbing and urge anyone with information to come forward.
