Delhi-NCR Braces for More Rain After Evening Showers
Rain made a splash across parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday evening, bringing some relief from the heat but also causing minor disruptions. Light showers hit key spots like Delhi High Court, South Moti Bagh, Civil Lines, and Noida Sector 11, turning busy streets a bit slippery for commuters.

Expect partly cloudy skies on September 20, followed by mainly clear weather from September 21 to 23. Himachal Pradesh Monsoon Devastation: Over 400 Lives Lost, Massive Damage Reported
Shifting focus to the hills, Himachal Pradesh has faced a brutal monsoon season this year, with heavy rains triggering landslides, flash floods, and more. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) shared a grim update on Tuesday: 417 people have died since June 20, when the monsoon first arrived. Out of these, 236 deaths came from rain-related disasters like landslides and flash floods, while 181 happened in road accidents amid the chaos.
The toll doesn’t stop there. Heavy rains injured 477 people and left 45 missing. Livestock took a big hit too, with over 2,407 animals and nearly 27,000 poultry birds lost. Families are reeling from the destruction—1,668 houses fully collapsed, 29,362 got partially damaged, and 584 shops or factories lie in ruins. More than 2,000 cowsheds and labor huts crumbled, leaving hundreds homeless in this Himachal Pradesh monsoon crisis.
Infrastructure losses add up to a whopping Rs 4,582 crore. The Public Works Department (PWD) bore the brunt with over Rs 2,800 crore in damages, followed by the Jal Shakti Department at Rs 1,405 crore and the power sector at Rs 139 crore. Roads, schools, health centers, fisheries, and rural projects all suffered, crippling daily life and the local economy.
District-wise, Mandi saw the worst with 66 deaths, closely followed by Kangra (57), Chamba (50), Shimla (47), Kullu (44), and Una (27). Landslides claimed 52 lives, flash floods 11, cloudbursts 17, and drowning incidents 40, alongside other tragedies like electrocution and snake bites.
Incessant rains have wrecked roads, irrigation systems, power lines, and farmland, hitting Himachal Pradesh’s economy hard. Officials are racing to restore normalcy, but ongoing landslides and road collapses slow things down. The SDMA warns of more rain-triggered risks in vulnerable areas and urges residents to stay alert during this extended monsoon season. Stay safe if you’re in the region!
