Rob Reiner’s eldest son, Nick, has been charged with the fatal stabbing of his famous parents. An insider who spoke to the Daily Mail said the 32‑year‑old has long battled drug problems, and that “ticking time bomb” of a son, his parents wanted him to get out of their lives.
According to that source, Nick’s recent behavior had become increasingly volatile: he’d go on meth binges, stay awake for days, then have outbursts that included breaking things and punching walls.
Nick has been living in the family’s guest house on their expansive Brentwood estate for the past five years, even as his conduct grew more erratic. The same report claims he repeatedly derailed the guest house, laughed at the chaos he caused, and was nonchalant about it. He also attended group meetings but quit because he called them “too cultish.”
“All hell broke loose” when he threatened his sister after she confronted him about his problems, the insider said. Over the years, Nick has cycled in and out of rehab more than a dozen times. In a 2018 “Dopey” podcast interview, he recalled a meth‑fueled night in which he stayed up for days and smashed items in the guest house.
Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found dead by their daughter Romy on a Sunday afternoon. Their bodies had already entered rigor mortis when discovered, according to TMZ. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday that Nick faces first‑degree murder charges for the knife attack that killed both parents.
During a holiday party hosted by Conan O’Brien, family members reportedly witnessed a heated argument between Nick and his parents, raising concerns about his behavior.
