Deion Sanders says he has more blood clots in leg after Colorado’s loss: ‘hurting like crazy’

Deion Sanders announced he’s in a lot of discomfort after Colorado’s 35‑21 loss to TCU. The 58‑year‑old head coach told reporters that he feels “like crazy” pain in his leg and suspects he’s developing more blood clots.

“I’ve got more blood clots,” Sanders said. “It doesn’t make sense. I’m hurting like crazy… I’m not getting blood to my leg. That’s why my leg is throbbing.”
He added that he plans to see a doctor on Monday for a check‑up.

From behind the sidelines, the former NFL star watched his team slide down to a 2‑4 record (0‑3 in the Big 12) while enduring a hard‑hit game at the TCU stadium. “Sorry to get that out, but thank you for noticing,” Sanders said when asked about his health.

Sanders has been dealing with more than just game‑day injuries. After a summer of treatment, a doctor told him he’s clinically cured of bladder cancer, but he had to undergo a major operation to rebuild part of his intestine so it would work as a bladder. He also missed this season’s Pac‑12 media day after a procedure that removed a blood clot from his right leg and another surgery to straighten toes on his left foot.

The same left‑foot surgery that took two toes in 2021 has kept him on the sidelines. A long‑running blood‑clot problem has now left him in pain after the TCU loss, putting his coaching schedule on hold as he heads to a doctor’s office for a future appointment.
