Somali student in Minnesota threatens to ‘pop’ ICE agents in expletive-ridden, viral rant

A Somali student at Minnesota State University, Hasan Mohamed, sparked outrage after a TikTok post threatened to “pop” ICE agents. In the clip he warned, “ICE, I actually heard you guys pulled up to Owatonna, the big O, and you pulled up when I was not there? Y’all so p–s‑ass s–t, boy. You’re gonna get popped next time I see you,” and added, “Bring the whole cavalry. Yeah, boy, you guys are scared.” The rant immediately drew a flood of criticism for its profanity and violent threat.

Although Mohamed later deleted the original upload, the video had already gone viral. In response, he posted several follow‑up clips in which he admitted a “lapse in my judgement,” said he was “just trying to be funny” after the backlash, and declared, “I don’t expect to be forgiven. I’m just here to apologize.” Critics, however, questioned the sincerity of his apology, noting its resemblance to a 2018 statement by YouTuber Logan Paul following a highly controversial incident.

As the backlash unfolded, ICE posted on X a warning that Minnesota would see “Minnesota’s weather is cloudy with a 100% chance of ICE,” accompanied by footage of recent detentions. The federal agency has amplified its presence in the state, citing concerns that up to half of Somali migrants in Minnesota may possess fraudulent immigration documents.
