Grand and heartfelt welcome accorded to World Cup-winning Indian women’s blind cricket team

Bengaluru, Nov 24 (LatestNewsX) – On Monday, the Indian blind women’s cricket squad, guided by Dr Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar, Chairman of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India, returned home after clinching the historic first Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025 in Colombo. The team’s victory over Nepal secured the inaugural title, boosting India’s reputation in the global blind cricket arena and inspiring millions nationwide. They flew into Bangalore via Chennai, where fans and officials showered them with cheers, tricolour‑bearing flags, and heartfelt celebrations at both airports. Chennai’s enthusiastic reception reflected the admiration earned through hard work, resolve, and sporting excellence, and the excitement only grew as they headed onward to Bengaluru. The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Karnataka, greeted the players with elation, underscoring the state’s commitment to inclusive sports and celebrating the squad’s role in shaping blind cricket’s future. At Kempegowda International Airport, staff from IndiGo Airlines and BIAL applauded and presented floral tributes, marking the nation’s collective joy in welcoming its world champions. Each athlete received well‑deserved cash awards – ₹1 00 000 from Chintels Group in the Delhi NCR region and ₹25 000 from London‑based tech firm Chiplogic – acknowledging their historic triumph. This triumphant homecoming serves as a reminder that steadfast dedication, teamwork, and confidence can achieve greatness; the first Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind will forever symbolize India’s pledge to gender equality and inclusion.
