Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the first‑phase agreement on President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan. In a statement posted on X, Modi praised the deal as proof of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strong leadership. He said the agreement could help free hostages and bring much needed humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
The Israel‑India Ambassador, Reuven Azar, also thanked India for its support. In a tweet, Azar thanked the U.S., Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye for their role in brokering the hostage‑release pact and wished for a swift return to peace.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres praised the agreement and urged all parties to follow the terms. He highlighted diplomatic efforts by the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.
Qatar’s Prime Minister‑spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, confirmed that the first phase includes the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and that aid will enter Gaza once the deal is finalized. He added that the details would be announced later.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called the day a “great day for Israel” and said his government would approve the agreement tomorrow. He thanked Israeli forces, the U.S. administration and its team for helping free the detained Israelis.
Hamas released a statement on Telegram after the agreement was announced. It called on the U.S., Arab mediators, and international partners to ensure Israel fully implements the ceasefire, withdrawals, and prisoner exchange. The group reaffirmed its commitment to Palestinian rights and self‑determination.
The agreement marks a milestone in Gaza’s volatile conflict, offering hope for a ceasefire, the return of hostages, and the delivery of aid to those affected while setting the stage for a longer‑term peace.
