Hyundai Motor joins Singapore to boost future mobility cooperation

Seoul, Nov 2 — Hyundai Motor, South Korea’s top carmaker, and Singapore’s research agency HTX just signed a new partnership to push forward advanced mobility technology. The deal was sealed at the K-Tech Showcase in Gyeongju, a city on the sidelines of the APEC summit, and marks the first time Singapore will pilot Hyundai’s electric vehicle tech with its government fleet.

HTX — set up in 2019 as a branch of Singapore’s internal‑affairs ministry — focuses on cutting‑edge public‑safety and border‑security tech, but it’s now teaming up with Hyundai to explore robotics, hydrogen fuel and other future‑mobility solutions. Over the next few years, the two sides will work on joint research projects and roll out a pilot program that uses Hyundai’s modular electric platform to boost the operating efficiency of public cars in Singapore. The project, slated to run until 2028, will also help the city meet its electric‑vehicle (EV) targets and build greener transportation infrastructure.

Hyundai says the partnership will go beyond the pilot drive. The company plans to help develop vehicle technology and deliver cars for public use, with support from HTX and a dedicated innovation hub at Hyundai’s Singapore group. “We’ll keep leading global innovation in robotics and hydrogen, while showing how mobility tech can work in real‑world settings,” Hyundai’s global policy chief Kim Il‑bum told reporters.

In a separate move, Hyundai is also working with Nvidia to speed up AI‑driven mobility solutions. The two firms will build AI capabilities using Nvidia’s latest Blackwell chips to power smart factories, on‑device semiconductors and new mobility platforms. This collaboration is expected to sharpen Hyundai’s competitive edge in tomorrow’s automotive landscape.
