Homeless Tylor Chase hospitalized on Christmas Day: ‘We finally got Tylor the help he needed’
Tylor Chase Receives 72‑Hour Detox After Homelessness Recovery Effort
A former Nickelodeon child star has finally entered a structured recovery plan. On Christmas Day, 2025, Tylor Chase – whose long‑time fame came from playing Martin on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide – was admitted to a local hospital for a three‑day detox. The move was arranged by a family friend, influencer Jacob “Jake” Harris, who stepped in after Chase’s father, Kevin, expressed growing concern over his son’s situation.
Harris, who has a track record of helping people in similar crises, shared a video on Instagram explaining the steps taken. “We finally got Tylor the help he needed,” he said in the clip, which also included a short video of Chase’s recovery in its initial stage. “He’s currently receiving medical attention to get him healthy, to get him all better.”
Kevin Chase had been reaching out for help for some time. He initially tried to get Tylor into a rehab program in Georgia in 2021, but his son declined the treatment and eventually moved to California.
In March of that year, the same father asked Harris—who has helped other individuals overcome addiction—to intervene. The family’s anxiety mounted after Tylor caused damage at a motel, an incident that further highlighted his unstable state.
According to Harris, “I was able to finally get ahold of a crisis center that would come out and do a same‑day evaluation.” After a rapid assessment, it was decided that Tylor required immediate care. The crisis team secured a spot for him at a nearby hospital where a 72‑hour detox program could be provided.
“They determined he needed immediate help and brought him to a local hospital for 72‑hour treatment,” Harris recounted. “He’s in good care now. And the future is looking bright. He just needed someone to actually do something to help.”
The effort also involved former Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss, an advocate for addiction recovery who had seen the viral footage of the child actor on Riverside streets. Weiss explained how he and Harris worked with Tylor over the weekend: “We sat with him for over an hour as family and friends called and encouraged him to get treatment,” Harris shared on Instagram.
Weiss added, “Jake had established a conversation with him and was working on establishing a rapport, which is difficult — and it can be tricky — considering the state that Tylor’s in.” He went on to note, “He said that Tylor seemed to be very receptive to getting treatment and to the idea of going into a detox.”
During the discussion, Weiss observed Tylor grew uneasy. “He got ‘spooked,’ and even told Harris, ‘I like my life the way it is.’”
What comes next for the teenage actor remains unclear, but the collaboration between family, friends, and crisis workers marks a hopeful turn in a journey that has been plagued by addiction, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. The combined interventions suggest that he might finally receive the sustained support he needs to rebuild his life.
