Baby missing after pregnant 22-year-old found dead in Mich. woods — and her sister and fiancé arrested
A pregnant woman who vanished just days before her due date was later found dead in the woods of northern Michigan, setting off a frantic hunt for her missing baby and prompting the arrest of both her sister and her fiancé.
Rebecca Park, 22, was last seen near a relative’s home on November 3 while 38 weeks along, according to the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office.
Her body was recovered in the Manistee National Forest on November 25, and a few days later an autopsy confirmed it was indeed Park’s, though it didn’t reveal any pregnancy at the time of her death.
The same evening police took the fiancé, 43‑year‑old Richard Lee Falor, into custody, and the next morning around 1 a.m. they arrested Park’s 21‑year‑old sister, Kimberly Park.
Falor told local news outlets that the pair had headed to the hospital on November 2 because they feared Park might be going into labor; at that point she had been 1 centimeter dilated and was scheduled to give birth on November 18.
According to Falor, Park was picked up in a tinted‑window black sedan from her biological mother’s house the day she went missing, but he offered no details on where she was headed or who would collect her.
Park had received roughly $2,000 from a family inheritance that same day, and her phone was left near the home, a move that likely helped her avoid electronic tracking, investigators said.
Kimberly Park has been booked with a $750,000 bond at the Wexford County Jail, while Falor faces a steep $1 million bond at the same facility.
Both were deemed flight risks, and a judge also described Falor as a threat to the community during his arraignment.
Falor, known as a habitual offender with three prior felonies, now faces two counts of methamphetamine delivery with a potential life sentence, while Kimberly is charged with tampering with evidence, lying to police during a violent crime investigation, and filing a false felony report.
