In Patna, Bihar, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal voiced strong optimism Friday about the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. He told reporters that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form a government with more than a two-thirds majority.
Jaiswal highlighted a recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ramp up election preparations. “We held detailed talks on how to fight the Bihar assembly polls effectively,” he said.
Amit Shah’s two-day visit to Bihar, from September 26 to 27, kicked off with a key strategy session at the BJP’s state office in Patna. Top Bihar BJP leaders, state secretaries, and organizers from other states joined in to plan the campaign. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the party’s new election in-charge for Bihar, also attended, according to a party source.
The visit aligned with the 109th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, a key BJP inspiration and founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. Jaiswal paid floral tributes to the leader and shared his thoughts. “Upadhyaya once said it’s the duty of society’s responsible people to bring those at the bottom into the mainstream. The BJP lives by that idea today,” Jaiswal explained.
In Delhi, BJP MP Parvesh Verma joined the commemorations. He honored Upadhyaya at a temple and led a cleanliness drive. “On PM Narendra Modi’s call, BJP workers across India are taking part in the Swachhata Abhiyaan today,” Verma said. “We’re cleaning up the CP Hanuman Temple premises with our team.”
Upadhyaya, who lived from 1916 to 1968, shaped Indian politics as a thinker, economist, and organizer. He led the Bharatiya Jana Sangh from 1953 until his death and became its president in 1967. He launched influential publications like the monthly Rashtra Dharma, weekly Panchajanya, and daily Swadesh.
Famous for his Integral Humanism philosophy, or Ekatma Manav Darshan, Upadhyaya focused on social justice, self-reliance, and lifting up society’s most overlooked people. BJP leaders nationwide used his birth anniversary to celebrate his legacy and recommit to his vision.
