Another truck triggers panic in Indore public area, woman injured

A mini truck crashed through Indore’s bustling Raoji Bazaar late Saturday night, smashing into several vehicles and a loading rickshaw in a scary reminder of heavy vehicles on city streets after dark. The incident happened on a route that trucks often use to reach Lohamandi and Siyaganj, even though police recently stepped up efforts to keep them out.

Eyewitnesses say the driver lost control as the truck sped through the crowded area. It plowed into multiple cars and bikes before slamming into the rickshaw, wrecking its own front end and damaging everything in its path. The chaos finally stopped, but not before injuring a woman named Sharmila. Rescuers rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where she’s getting treatment, according to police.

Local people didn’t waste time—they grabbed the driver and called the cops right away. Officers arrested him and seized the truck. During questioning, the man said brake failure caused the whole mess. A quick medical check showed he hadn’t been drinking, so police are digging deeper into what went wrong. They’re also looking into whether the truck broke any rules on nighttime travel for heavy vehicles in Indore.

This crash hits close to home after another deadly truck accident in the Bada Ganpati neighborhood just days earlier. That one killed three people and hurt more than 15 others, sparking outrage over road safety. In response, authorities posted officers at city entrances to block heavy trucks during busy times. But folks in Raoji Bazaar say that’s not enough—trucks keep rolling through at night, turning the streets into a danger zone.

“It’s like a ticking time bomb here,” grumbled one frustrated vendor who sells nearby. “We just had that big tragedy, and nothing’s changed.” Shop owners and residents are fed up with the constant risk from these big rigs in packed areas.

Police promise they’re cracking down harder on traffic restrictions in Indore and investigating every angle of this mini truck crash. At the same time, more voices are calling for tougher rules, like better monitoring and rerouting heavy vehicles away from crowded spots. With truck accidents piling up, Indore leaders face growing pressure to fix the roads for good and keep everyone safe.
