Delhi BJP chief energises workers for MCD bypolls in Naraina, Chandni Chowk

Delhi, November 17 – Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva fired up the party’s volunteers in a meeting in New Delhi. He urged workers to “gear up for the upcoming MCD by‑elections” and reminded everyone that their slogan should be “Our votes before lunch.”

Sachdeva called the by‑elections a training ground for the 2027 Municipal Corporation poll. He spoke to Vistarak workers and booth managers who are supporting the BJP’s candidates: Dr. Chandrakanta in Naraina ward and Suman Kumar Gupta in Chandni Chowk. The Naraina event was attended by district leaders and elected officials such as Virendra Babbar, Anshu Tanwar, MLAs Umang Bajaj and Harish Khurana, State Vice‑President Vinay Rawat, minister Sona Kumari and former MLA Subhash Sachdeva.

In Chandni Chowk the gathering was led by MP Praveen Khandelwal, District President Arvind Garg, election head Pankaj Jain, and Mandal President Rohit Sharma. Sachdeva told both groups that Naraina and Chandni Chowk have long been BJP strongholds. “We won Naraina in 2022 despite tough conditions, and we only lost Chandni Chowk by a small margin,” he said. “Voters now want us back, and we will win again.”

He emphasized the need to capture every vote inside the party’s network and asked volunteers to stick to the “Our votes before lunch” pledge. “With that resolve, victory is certain,” he said.

Other senior BJP leaders joined the day’s activities. Delhi BJP’s Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pradesh Secretary Vishnu Mittal, and District President Ajay Khatana met workers and senior citizens in Ashok Vihar and Shalimar Bagh wards. MLA Satish Upadhyay and District President Ravinder Chaudhary called on Greater Kailash workers. MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Minister Pankaj Singh addressed Dhichkau Kalan, MLA Manoj Shokeen met Mundka ward volunteers, and MLA Harish Khurana spoke to Ashok Vihar. Women’s group leader Richa Pandey Mishra hosted a conference for women in Chandni Chowk.

Rana highlighted that the by‑elections give workers a chance to replicate the success of the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 Assembly wins. Throughout the day, BJP municipal candidates canvassed door‑to‑door across all 12 wards up for election on November 30, with results announced on December 3. Candidates included Anjum Mandal (Greater Kailash), Suman Kumar Gupta (Chandni Chowk), Sunil Sharma (Chandni Mahal), Jaipal Singh Darral (Mundka), Anita Jain (Shalimar Bagh‑B), Veena Asija (Ashok Vihar), Manisha Rajpal Sehrawat (Dwarka‑B), Rekha Rani (Dichau Kalan), Dr. Chandrakala Shivani (Naraina), Shubhrajeet Gautam (Sangam Vihar‑A), Rohini Raj (Dakshin Puri), and Sarla Chaudhary (Vinod Nagar). All worked closely with mandal presidents and party volunteers during their tours.
