India pulled off another commanding win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup, beating them by six wickets in a thrilling Super Fours match in Dubai on Sunday. Head coach Gautam Gambhir couldn’t hide his excitement, posting “Fearless” on Instagram multiple times while sharing clips of the team’s stars.
Pakistan put up a stronger fight this time with the bat, reaching 171 for five in their 20 overs—their highest score batting first against India in T20 internationals. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with a lucky 58, and Faheem Ashraf smashed an unbeaten 20 off just eight balls to boost their total.
But India chased it down with ease, thanks to a explosive opening partnership. Abhishek Sharma smashed 74 runs with his aggressive style, while vice-captain Shubman Gill added 47 using his solid technique. The duo tore into Pakistan’s bowlers, no matter who they faced, putting on 105 runs in just 9.5 overs. That set up the middle order nicely to finish the job without much drama.
Gambhir’s “Fearless” captions captured the team’s bold approach perfectly. Fans and cricket legends flooded social media with praise. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took a cheeky dig at Pakistan, posting on X: “Hanji, kesa raha Sunday?” He followed up with: “Well done, team India. You are class above all the other teams.”
Harbhajan Singh kept it simple: “Well done Team India, domination #INDvPAK.” Sanjay Manjrekar highlighted the depth: “Well done Abhishek, well done Gill, but let not forget Dube contribution today. Crucial. Pakistan was better tonight, but India just has too much ability! #AsiaCupT20.”
Even Abhishek and Gill’s mentor, Yuvraj Singh, chipped in on Instagram: “An opening stand full of intent, timing and composure that set the tone for victory! Well played, boys. Keep going.”
This victory extends India’s unbeaten streak to four matches in the Asia Cup. The favorites face Bangladesh in Dubai on Wednesday, while Pakistan looks to bounce back against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
