In Shimla, the state’s chief minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, kicked off the third phase of the Tobacco‑Free Youth Campaign on Saturday. The rally started from the CM’s residence, Oak Over, and aimed to stop young people from turning to tobacco and to encourage healthier habits.
Sukhu urged students to pledge never to use any intoxicating products, including tobacco, and to work toward a tobacco‑free India. He also handed over 26 advanced life‑support ambulances to block medical officers across Himachal Pradesh, saying the state is upgrading its health system to fill existing gaps.
Health officials, including PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil, joined the event. The chief minister reaffirmed that health remains a top priority for the state government and that new reforms will continue to strengthen medical services.
Later, Sukhu addressed the arrest of Ramkumar Bindal, the brother of Himachal BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal. He said the government acted on a victim’s complaint and that proper legal action has been taken.
The Tobacco‑Free Youth Campaign 3.0 will continue to boost awareness and help Himachal Pradesh’s youth adopt cleaner, addiction‑free lifestyles. ()
