BJP Launches Seva Pakhwada to Mark PM Modi’s 75th Birthday
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a big 15-day service drive called Seva Pakhwada to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. Party leaders have picked national general secretary Sunil Bansal as the convener for this nationwide campaign.
Bansal has been a powerhouse in BJP since 2014. He handled key organizational roles in states like Odisha, Bengal, and Telangana during the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, as Uttar Pradesh’s organizational secretary, he helped the BJP make a strong comeback to power in the state after years out of the top spot.
To kick things off, Bansal recently ran workshops with BJP leaders from across India to get everyone ready for the Seva Pakhwada activities. The campaign starts on September 17—PM Modi’s birthday—and runs until October 2, which honors the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Expect a mix of community-focused events during these 15 days. BJP workers will organize blood donation camps, health check-ups, cleanliness drives, and the "One Tree in Mother Name" initiative to promote tree planting. They’ll also set up exhibitions and hold dialogue programs to connect with people.
In a first for Bansal, who rarely speaks to the media despite nearly 11 years in BJP, he shared exciting details at a press conference. "We’ll run 771 dialogue programs across states," Bansal said. These will include special sessions with differently abled citizens, where the party will distribute assistive devices to make a real difference.
On September 21, the BJP’s youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), will host the Modi Vikas Marathon in over 75 major cities. At the same time, all BJP MPs will organize sports festivals in their constituencies to boost community spirit. Registrations for these sports events kicked off on August 29, with the main action starting September 21. The fun won’t stop there—cultural programs like painting competitions will continue through December and January.
Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav joined Bansal at the press conference. They also announced another big push: Starting September 25, on Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti, BJP will launch the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat campaign. This self-reliant India and developed India drive will run until December 25, focusing on growth and empowerment.
Bansal, a senior pracharak from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stepped into BJP’s national role after leading as joint organizing secretary for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). His work in Uttar Pradesh turned things around for the party, earning him credit for its big wins.
This Seva Pakhwada isn’t just about celebrations—it’s a hands-on way for BJP to serve communities and honor leaders like PM Modi, Gandhi, and Shastri. If you’re in India, keep an eye out for these events in your area!
