Kuldeep Yadav after Asia Cup 2025 final clash against Pakistan

India’s cricket team celebrated a thrilling victory in the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who starred with the ball, shared his excitement on social media after the win. “Finals are meant to test you,” he posted on X. “Proud of how we stood tall last night. 🏆”

The Men in Blue dominated the match on a slow Dubai pitch. Their spin trio—Kuldeep Yadav (4-30), Axar Patel (2-26), and Varun Chakravarthy (2-30)—combined for eight wickets to bowl Pakistan out for just 146. Varun broke the dangerous 84-run opening partnership by dismissing Sahibzada Farhan for 57 off 38 balls. Axar struck in the middle overs, while Kuldeep tore through Pakistan’s power-hitters. Kuldeep later revealed that coach Hari had pointed out key lengths to target against the Pakistan batters before the game.

India chased down the target with ease, securing a five-wicket win thanks to Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 69, along with solid knocks from Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube. This marked India’s third straight win over Pakistan in as many weekends, clinching the Asia Cup 2025 title.

Kuldeep’s performance highlighted his tournament dominance. He finished as the top wicket-taker with 17 scalps at an average of 9.29, while Varun claimed seven wickets at 20.42. On the podium, Kuldeep, Abhishek Sharma, and Tilak Varma picked up their individual awards from dignitaries. Salman Ali Agha accepted the runners-up cheque for Pakistan from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, but the Indian players didn’t acknowledge him. Even ACC chairman Naqvi skipped applause for the Indian award winners.

Tensions peaked during the ceremony. Presenter Simon Doull announced that the Indian team wouldn’t collect their awards that night, as confirmed by the Asian Cricket Council. Later, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia cleared up the controversy. India refused the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from ACC chairman Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s interior minister.

“We decided not to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who is one of Pakistan’s main leaders,” Saikia told . “But that doesn’t mean he’ll keep the trophy and medals. It’s unfortunate and unsportsmanlike. We hope they return the trophy and medals to India soon.”
