OpenAI and ARISE collaborate to empower K-12 educators in India with AI integration

OpenAI, the powerhouse behind the popular ChatGPT, has teamed up with the Association for Reinventing School Education (ARISE) to bring cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) tools and training to teachers in India’s K-12 schools. This exciting partnership promises to make classrooms smarter and more engaging across the country.

The collaboration kicked off at ARISE’s 8th Annual Education Conference in New Delhi. As part of the event, ARISE— which works with FICCI on private school reforms— hosted a special Masterclass called “Empowering School Education Through AI.” OpenAI experts led the session, showing teachers hands-on ways to use AI for lesson planning, boosting student engagement, and creating personalized learning paths.

What stood out? AI isn’t here to replace teachers—it’s a helpful sidekick that strengthens the bond between educators and students. The Masterclass focused on practical tips for weaving AI into daily teaching, while stressing ethics, pedagogy, and India’s unique school challenges.

This tie-up between OpenAI and ARISE goes beyond one event. It includes structured training programs, awareness drives, and hands-on support for ARISE member schools. The goal? Equip teachers with AI skills to make schools future-ready, all while keeping student needs front and center.

Praveen Raju, President of ARISE’s Governing Board and Co-Founder of Suchitra Academy, shared his excitement: “School education in India is on the brink of a big change, and OpenAI is leading the charge. Their tools are already a hit with students and teachers, simplifying tough topics and making classes more fun. This Masterclass proved our ‘Student First’ motto in action.”

Raghav Gupta, Head of Education for India and Asia Pacific at OpenAI, added: “Partnering with ARISE lets us dive deep into India’s K-12 world, tapping into their strong school network and policy insights. We’re all about delivering real benefits for teachers and kids— this Masterclass is just the start.”

Vinesh Menon, ARISE’s Director General and CEO, called the event a huge win. “It perfectly matches our mission to spark innovation in education,” he said. “We saw how OpenAI blends global tech smarts with a willingness to adapt to India’s specific teaching needs. They’re not just providers; they’re true partners for our schools.”

In a statement, ARISE highlighted how this collaboration builds a stronger school education ecosystem in India. By introducing AI thoughtfully, they aim to keep learning innovative yet rooted in strong teaching practices and student well-being. As AI transforms education worldwide, initiatives like this are setting India up for success.
