Free medical camps organised nationwide; special focus on women’s health in Gandhinagar

Free Medical Camps Bring Healthcare to Gandhinagar Doorsteps
Gandhinagar is buzzing with excitement as a massive free medical camp drive kicks off across the city and beyond. This nationwide initiative runs until October 2, tying in perfectly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations. It’s all about making healthcare accessible, especially for women, under the "Swasth Nari – Sashakt Parivar" campaign – a push to build healthy families starting with empowered women.
In Gandhinagar district, these camps pop up at primary health centres, towns, and villages, with a big spotlight on women’s health. Organizers call it a "special gift" from the Prime Minister, offering preventive check-ups to tackle common issues early. Imagine getting screened for free – that’s the vibe here!
Gandhinagar’s Chief District Health Officer, Vaishnav, shares the details: "We’re covering everything from full body check-ups to cancer screenings for oral, cervical, and breast issues. Plus, ENT, eye, dental, and mental health services. We check for hypertension, diabetes, and anaemia, and provide counselling too." For moms-to-be, antenatal care is on hand, kids get immunizations, and everyone learns about sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health.
The camps also link people to key government schemes like Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana cards, and Maa Vandana cards. It’s super-specialty care at your local spot – no hassle, all free.
On day one, over 100 folks turned up for OPD services at the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation camps. Deputy Health Officer Vishnu Joshi says, "Specialists like gynaecologists, pediatricians, and ophthalmologists are on site, handing out free diagnoses and medicines. The turnout has been fantastic!"
This drive is part of a bigger national effort to boost public healthcare and hammer home the idea: a healthy woman means a strong family. It’s inspiring communities to step up for better health nationwide.
Adding to the birthday buzz, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi recently launched what they’re calling the world’s largest blood donation camp at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad as "Raktadan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0," it marks PM Modi’s 75th birthday and the group’s 61st foundation day.
Speaking to the crowd, Sanghavi highlighted PM Modi’s "Seva Parmo Dharma" vision – service as the ultimate duty. "Blood donation saves lives, builds stronger communities, and creates a healthier India," he said. He noted how millions are getting inspired by these acts of kindness and shared responsibility.
Events like these show how small steps, like donating blood or attending a health camp, can make a huge difference. If you’re in Gandhinagar or nearby, why not check out a camp? It’s a great way to stay healthy and give back.
