Tight security in Manipur’s Imphal ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Tight Security and Festive Vibes in Imphal for PM Modi’s Visit

Imphal in Manipur buzzes with excitement today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gears up for his visit on Saturday. Authorities have rolled out massive security measures across the city, with police and security forces deployed everywhere to ensure everything runs smoothly. The streets look vibrant and ready to welcome the PM, turning Imphal into a hub of anticipation.

This trip is part of PM Modi’s packed three-day tour from September 13 to 15, covering five states: Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar. He plans to kick off and lay the foundation for projects worth a whopping Rs 71,850 crore, boosting infrastructure and development in these regions.

Kicking things off in Mizoram, PM Modi will head to Aizawl around 10 am. There, he’ll inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several key projects valued at over Rs 9,000 crore. These span sectors like railways, roadways, energy, and sports. Expect him to speak at a public rally too, connecting directly with the people.

A highlight? He’ll flag off three brand-new trains to improve connectivity in the Northeast. First up is the Sairang (Aizawl)-Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal) Rajdhani Express, linking Aizawl straight to the capital. Then there’s the Sairang-Guwahati Express for easier travel between Mizoram and Assam, and the Sairang-Kolkata Express to connect Mizoram directly to Kolkata. These moves will make journeys faster and more convenient for locals.

On the roads front, PM Modi will lay the foundation for important projects like the Aizawl Bypass Road, Thenzawl-Sialsuk Road, and Khankawn-Rongura Road. He’ll also greenlight the Chhimtuipui River Bridge on the Lawngtlai-Siaha Road—this will offer all-weather access and cut travel time by almost two hours. Sports enthusiasts will love the Khelo India Multipurpose Indoor Hall, which gets its foundation stone today to nurture young talent.

Energy gets a boost too, with the foundation for a 30 TMTPA LPG Bottling Plant at Mualkhang in Aizawl. This plant will strengthen Mizoram’s energy setup and support daily needs.

Shifting to Manipur, the action continues at 12:30 pm in Churachandpur. PM Modi will lay the foundation for projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore. These include the Rs 3,600 crore Manipur Urban Roads, drainage, and asset management initiative to revamp city infrastructure. Five National Highway projects, totaling over Rs 2,500 crore, aim to improve connectivity. Plus, the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project and working women’s hostels at nine spots will empower communities and tech growth.

By afternoon, around 2:30 pm, he’ll inaugurate projects worth over Rs 1,200 crore right in Imphal and address a lively public gathering. Manipur residents are all set for this big day, with the PM’s visit promising real progress for the state.
