New Delhi, Oct. 23 – Delhi Police, working with Bihar officers, ended a major gang operation after a late‑night shootout in Rohini. Four men – Ranjan Pathak, Bimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak and Aman Thakur – were killed in the encounter. They were wanted on multiple charges, including murder, armed assault and illegal weapons possession, and each carried a ₹1 lakh reward on their heads.
The operation followed a tip from Bihar Police about the Sigma gang’s movements in the capital. Members of a notorious criminal network that has killed several high‑profile targets in Bihar were reportedly planning a large‑scale crime during the upcoming assembly elections.
Under the direction of DCP (Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Delhi and Bihar forces fired on a white Maruti Suzuki Baleno at 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 22‑23 near Pancholi Park on Bahadur Shah Marg in Rohini. Police ordered the vehicle to stop, but the occupants fired first. A brief gunfight ensued, and all four men were shot. Hospital staff later confirmed the suspects had died from their injuries.
Delhi Police recovered three semi‑automatic pistols, a country‑made firearm and the car used in the attack. The encounter marks a high‑profile win against organized crime and signals the joint effort of Delhi and Bihar police to curb criminal networks ahead of the election season.
