Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to kick off a series of game-changing infrastructure and industrial projects worth over Rs 18,530 crore in Assam today. This visit highlights his focus on boosting connectivity, healthcare, and green energy in the Northeast.
Kicking things off in Darrang district, PM Modi will address a lively public rally before laying the foundation stones for key developments. Top on the list is the Darrang Medical College & Hospital, along with a GNM School and B.Sc. Nursing College to strengthen healthcare access. He’ll also greenlight the Guwahati Ring Road Project, a massive urban infrastructure push to cut traffic jams and speed up travel in the bustling capital area.
Another highlight? The foundation stone for the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge across the Brahmaputra River. This bridge promises to transform regional connectivity, sparking socio-economic growth and making daily life easier for locals.
In the afternoon, PM Modi heads to Numaligarh in Golaghat district. There, he’ll inaugurate the Assam Bio-Ethanol Plant at the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). It’s a big step in India’s clean energy drive, helping cut down on fossil fuel dependence and promoting renewable energy solutions. Plus, he’ll lay the groundwork for a new Polypropylene Plant at the same site—a boost to Assam’s petrochemical industry that could create thousands of jobs and fuel industrial growth.
The excitement builds on yesterday’s cultural vibes in Guwahati, where PM Modi joined celebrations for the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. The event honored the iconic Assamese musician and cultural legend, whose songs and stories continue to inspire the region’s identity.
PM Modi’s Northeast tour doesn’t stop here. Tomorrow, September 15, he’ll head to West Bengal and Bihar. In Kolkata, expect him to launch the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference, a key military meet. Then, in Purnia, Bihar, he’ll unveil the swanky new terminal at Purnia Airport and roll out development projects worth Rs 36,000 crore. He’ll also kickstart the National Makhana Board to supercharge farming and exports in the area, giving a lift to local farmers and the economy.
