Bengaluru, Dec 1 – Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar are set to hold a second breakfast gathering within the week. Shivakumar will host the CM at his home on December 2 for a “breakfast diplomacy” session that the Congress leadership has fully endorsed. He mentioned that the favourite dish of Siddaramaiah, the traditional “naati koli,” will be made for their meal.
In a post on X, Shivakumar announced, “I’ve invited the Hon’ble CM for breakfast tomorrow to discuss and reinforce our joint efforts to keep our promises to Karnataka.” He added that both leaders will keep working as a united team, sharing the mouth‑watering “naati koli” during this meeting on Tuesday.
Earlier that day, Siddaramaiah revealed he had not yet received a phone call from Shivakumar with a breakfast invitation, but he remained open to coming. “If I am invited to breakfast by Shivakumar, I am ready to go. He said at the lunch on November 30 that he would invite me to his house for breakfast on Tuesday. I’ve not yet heard a call, but if he invites us, I’ll go,” he said.
He also added, “He may invite soon. I expect he will definitely invite me.” Shivakumar, who also heads the state Congress unit and is a leading contender for the chief ministership, remarked last Saturday after a breakfast meeting at the CM’s residence that he and Siddaramaiah were “together” and would follow the party’s higher directives.
“Today, I’m pleased. Siddaramaiah and I had a breakfast meeting. He will also visit my home for dinner in the next couple of days,” Shivakumar said. When questioned earlier on Monday about the invitation, he emphasized that it was an internal arrangement between the two. “Siddaramaiah and I work together like brothers. We took part in the breakfast due to media pressure. You (the media) keep talking about camps and factions within the party,” he explained.
