World Boxing Championships’ medal-winning women boxers felicitated by President Droupadi Murmu

New Delhi – December 10 (LatestNewsX) – President of India Droupadi Murmu showered praise on India’s women boxers after they made history at the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool. The squad ended up with four medals, including two golds, marking a breakthrough moment for Indian boxing on the world stage.
“Indian women boxers who brought laurels to the nation at the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Ms Jaismine and Ms Minakshi won the gold medals, Ms Nupur brought home the silver medal, whereas Ms Pooja Rani was the bronze winner. The President congratulated them for their exceptional performances. Office‑bearers of the Boxing Federation of India were also present on the occasion,” the President wrote on her official X handle while also sharing pictures with the boxers.
Jaismine Lamboria (57 kg) and Minakshi Hooda (48 kg) won historic world titles, becoming the first Indians to clinch championships under the new federation. Minakshi’s 4‑1 victory over 2024 Olympic bronze‑medallist Nazym Kyzaibay in the 48‑kg final was a standout performance.
Nupur Sheoran took silver after a tight 3‑2 split‑decision loss to Poland’s Agata Kaczmarska in the 80‑plus‑kg final, while Olympic‑experienced Pooja Rani earned bronze, losing 4‑1 to England’s Emily Asquith in the semifinals.
India entered the tournament with a 20‑strong team, including Olympic medallists Lovlina Borgohain and Nikhat Zareen, both returning from Paris 2024. Borgohain was ousted in the second round of the 75‑kg division, while Zareen reached the quarterfinals in the 51‑kg category before being defeated by Turkey’s two‑time Olympic silver medalist Buse Naz Cakiroglu.
The success of Jaismine, Minakshi, and the rest of the squad highlighted India’s growing depth in women’s boxing and heralded a bright new era under the World Boxing Federation.
