Asia Cup: Aryan Bisht debuts as Oman elect to bowl against UAE

Oman Opts to Bowl First Against UAE in Crucial Asia Cup 2025 Clash

In a high-stakes Group A match at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Oman won the toss and chose to bowl first against the United Arab Emirates on September 15. This seventh game of the Asia Cup 2025 brings together two teams desperate for a win after tough losses in their opening fixtures.

Oman brings some fresh energy with T20I debutant Aryan Bisht stepping into the spotlight. The young talent already impressed in two ODIs during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 back in May. Captain Jatinder Singh explained the decision: "We’re going to bowl first. The ball comes nicely onto the bat at night, and it travels quickly too. We had an off day last time, but the boys will apply themselves today. We’ve made three changes, and Aryan Bisht is making his debut."

For the UAE, Simranjeet Singh sits out, but Muhammad Jawad returns to the lineup. Captain Muhammad Waseem shared his thoughts: "We’re happy to bowl first—the pitch looks good, and it might offer some help. We come with a new day and a new plan. We’re aiming to grab our sixth win against them. One change: Simranjeet’s not playing, and Jawad is in."

Both teams face mounting pressure in the Asia Cup 2025. UAE suffered a shocking collapse, getting bowled out for just 57 against India. Their openers showed brief promise, and Junaid Siddique snagged a lone wicket, but the rest couldn’t resist the onslaught.

Oman had a similar rough outing, chasing Pakistan’s 160/7 but folding for 67. Debutant Faisal Shah and veteran Aamir Kaleem bowled impressive spells, yet it wasn’t enough to turn the tide. Now, both Gulf nations need a strong performance in this UAE vs Oman match to stay alive in the tournament.

Here’s how the teams line up:

Oman: Aamir Kaleem, Jatinder Singh (c), Hammad Mirza, Aryan Bisht, Jiten Ramanandi, Vinayak Shukla (wk), Faisal Shah, Shakeel Ahmed, Hassnain Ali Shah, Samay Shrivastava, Wasim Ali.

United Arab Emirates: Alishan Sharafu, Muhammad Waseem (c), Mohammad Zuhaib Khan, Rahul Chopra (wk), Asif Khan, Harshit Kaushik, Dhruv Parashar, Haider Ali, Junaid Siddique, Muhammad Rohid Khan, Muhammad Jawadullah.

Cricket fans, keep an eye on this Asia Cup 2025 showdown—could a debut spark or a tactical bowl-first call change everything?
