Tamil Nadu BJP head Nainar Nagenthran said the end of the DMK government is near, calling Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s rule a “failure on every front.” The comments followed a visit to the historic Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, where Nagenthran paid floral tributes on the 1,040th anniversary of Chola emperor Raja Raja Cholan’s birth.
Speaking to reporters, Nagenthran praised the ancient king, saying no other Indian ruler matched Raja Raja Cholan’s vision, statesmanship, and architectural achievements. He remembered the 2023 celebration of the 1,000th anniversary of Raja Raja Cholan’s successor, Rajendra Cholan, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended and highlighted Tamil culture on the world stage. The BJP plans to propose a new statue of the legendary emperor inside the temple complex, working with cultural experts and senior leaders.
Nagenthran shifted to current issues, blasting the DMK government for ignoring farmers in the Cauvery delta region. He warned that paddy procurement has stalled, grains are piling up and rotting, and trucks with harvested rice sit idle. Farmers protest, but he accused the chief minister and deputy chief minister of watching films instead of solving the crisis. “The DMK has failed every pre‑poll promise,” he said. “They’ve betrayed farmers, youth, and women. Their credibility is lost.”
He stated that only 140 days remain before the DMK’s rule ends, marking a countdown to change. “The people of Tamil Nadu want a new direction,” Nagenthran added. “The NDA, led by the BJP, will win the next elections.”
The BJP’s message underscores rural distress and promises a new political future in Tamil Nadu, aiming to rally voters ahead of the upcoming elections.
