Regulatory panel should prioritise projects promoting education, sports and social progress: Arunachal Guv

Arunachal Pradesh’s education system is getting a fresh push for quality and innovation. During a visit to the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Monday, Governor Lieutenant‑General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) met with the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC) to discuss how the state can raise standards in private schools and colleges.
APPEIRC Chairman Tsering Naksang presented the 2024‑25 annual report to the Governor and highlighted the commission’s recent inspections, accreditation work, and other activities. In return, Parnaik urged APPEIRC to use a “robust system of accreditation, inspections, and performance audits” so that private institutions meet national and global benchmarks. He stressed the need for a continuous focus on innovation, inclusivity, and employability, and asked the commission to design projects that support the state’s development in education, sports, and cultural affairs.
The Governor also linked education outcomes to India’s broader goals, calling for more skill‑based learning, entrepreneurship training, and digital literacy to help students contribute to “Viksit Bharat @ 2047.” He highlighted that partnerships between universities, industry, and government can close the gap between classroom learning and job readiness, turning youths into drivers of growth and social change.
Parnaik also spoke about the importance of transparency and equity. He urged APPEIRC to regularly review benchmarks for curriculum design, teaching quality, research output, infrastructure, and student welfare. “Academic excellence must be visible and open to all,” he said. The meeting was attended by APPEIRC members Limo Ete and Joram Aniya, and Secretary A.K. Tripathy.
In a separate discussion, the Governor met Colonel Samudra Vijay Sarma, Commanding Officer of the first Arunachal Pradesh NCC Battalion. They talked about expanding and strengthening the National Cadet Corps (NCC) across the state. Parnaik said the NCC should reach every district and institution, offering all students a chance to participate. He framed the NCC not just as an extracurricular activity but as a vital part of education that builds unity, discipline, leadership, patriotism, and the “Nation First” mindset among young people.
