Pakistan: Feudal landlord cripples young camel for drinking water from his land in Sindh

In Pakistan’s Sindh province, a shocking case of animal cruelty has grabbed attention after a feudal landlord in the Saleh Pat area brutally tortured a young female camel. The camel had wandered onto his farmland searching for water and accidentally damaged some crops, according to GEO News.
Reports say the landlord tied the camel to a tractor and dragged her across the ground. He then beat her with sticks, broke one of her legs, and caused severe injuries to her face. The camel’s owner rushed her to a nearby hospital for help, but doctors turned them away.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah stepped in on Friday, calling the attack “intolerable cruelty.” He ordered Sukkur District Council chairman Syed Kamil Shah to make sure the camel got urgent medical care right away.
Kamil Shah quickly reached out to the owner and promised government support for the treatment. Police in Kandhra filed a case based on the owner’s complaint, charging three suspects. They arrested one suspect on the spot, and by Saturday, a second one was in custody, as confirmed by Sukkur SSP Azhar Mughal. Officers are still hunting for the third suspect.
In the meantime, the district council chairman shared that the camel received first aid and has now been moved to Karachi for advanced treatment. This incident highlights growing concerns over animal abuse in rural Pakistan, with authorities vowing to hold the perpetrators accountable.
