Navneet Nishan reveals that Saif Ali Khan took on the role of her brother during her engagement ceremony

Fans got a delightful blast from the past when actress Navneet Nishan, best known for her iconic role in the 90s TV hit “Tara,” shared rare throwback photos from her personal collection. These snapshots reveal her heartwarming ties to Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan, his ex-wife Amrita Singh, and their daughter Sara Ali Khan.
The pictures, all from the vibrant 1990s, capture Navneet’s close friendship with Saif and Amrita. One standout moment comes from Navneet’s 1998 engagement to software engineer Srirajan, who was then vice president at Oracle Singapore. In a sweet family touch, Saif stepped in as her “rakhi brother” to perform the ceremony during the intimate home gathering.
Navneet opened up about the day in her caption: “These are never-before-seen pictures from my engagement in Mumbai, 1998. It was a cozy get-together with close friends and family. Shipra Shukla, a well-known photographer, introduced us, and there was instant chemistry. We dated for two years before tying the knot. Saif, as my rakhi brother, handled the small ceremony.”
Amrita Singh joined the celebration too, showing just how tight-knit their circle was. The photos even include a tender shot of Navneet holding a baby Sara Ali Khan on her lap—long before Saif and Amrita’s son Ibrahim came along.
Nostalgia didn’t stop there. Navneet also posted a fun memory from a 1994 trip to London with Amrita. She described it as “exciting times with close friends. London was our favorite—amazing food and shopping. Amrita knew the city inside out, so she guided me to museums, the Tower of London, great restaurants, and even a theater play. We made several trips there in the 90s. Such good memories.”
Their bond started even earlier; the duo starred together in the 1988 Bollywood film “Waaris.” Navneet went on to shine in movies like “Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke,” “Dilwale,” “Akele Hum Akele Tum,” “Raja Hindustani,” and notably “Kya Kehna,” where she played Saif’s on-screen mother. On TV, her groundbreaking role as the bold and independent Tara in the long-running show made her a household name. She later appeared in series like “Chanakya,” “Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin,” and “Madhubala.”
These glimpses into Navneet Nishan’s 90s world not only highlight her stellar career but also celebrate the genuine warmth she shared with the Ali Khan family. It’s a reminder of the fun, connected side of Bollywood back in the day.
