‘Will surely win two-thirds of seats in Bihar polls’: Manoj Jha expresses confidence in Mahagathbandhan victory
Bihar is heading into the final stretch of its Assembly elections, and RJD MP Manoj Jha is sounding the alarm for his party’s Grand Alliance. After the first phase wrapped up, Mr. Jha told that the Mahagathbandhan is still on track to win about two‑thirds of all seats in the state.
He said the alliance’s message – created by Tejashwi Yadav in 2020 – has grown stronger over five years. “It’s all about jobs, a responsive government and social security,” he explained. “Bihar voters want change, and that hope is clear in the polls.”
Jha expects the Alliance to pick up an even larger share of seats in the second round. “We’ll win around two‑thirds in the first phase and probably more in the second,” he added. Election day on November 14 will show how the people have spoken.
When asked about the electronic voting machines, Mr. Jha kept his answer simple. “I don’t manage the machines,” he said. “But based on the voters’ mandate, we’re confident the Mahagathbandhan will win a decisive majority.”
Election logistics are already in motion. The second phase will cover 122 constituencies across 20 districts. A total of 1,302 candidates, including 136 women – about 10 % – are contesting. 45,399 polling stations will serve 3.70 crore registered voters, roughly 1.95 crore men and 1.74 crore women.
Mr. Jha also weighed in on remarks made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who said Hindus are “responsible for Bharat.” Jha criticized the RSS for still being an unregistered organization, asking Bhagwat to formalize its status. The RSS head made his comments during a lecture titled “100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons,” where he highlighted the group’s role in organizing society for the nation’s glory, not for power.
The second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is set to begin Tuesday, with voters across the state ready to decide the political future of their region.
