Assam CM as PM Modi set to dedicate projects Rs 18,530 Cr

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is thrilled about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s big push for the state’s growth. On Sunday, PM Modi kicked off and laid the foundation for projects worth over Rs 18,530 crore in Assam, calling it a game-changer for infrastructure, healthcare, and clean energy.

In an excited post on X, Sarma shared: “Today is a momentous occasion for Assam. In a short while from now, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji will dedicate projects worth Rs 18,530 crore. These include new roads, bridges, a medical college, and a major clean energy initiative.”

The Prime Minister’s Office highlighted that these Assam infrastructure projects will boost everything from medical education to urban connectivity and green energy. Let’s break down the highlights from PM Modi’s visit.

In Darrang district, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, along with a GNM School and B.Sc. Nursing College. These steps will strengthen healthcare and medical training in the area, making quality services more accessible for locals.

He also greenlit the Guwahati Ring Road Project, which promises smoother traffic flow, less congestion, and better connectivity around the bustling capital city. Another key highlight? The foundation for the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra River. This bridge will link remote areas, spark socio-economic growth, and make travel easier for thousands.

Shifting to Golaghat’s Numaligarh, PM Modi inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). It’s a big win for clean energy in Assam, helping cut down on fossil fuel reliance and promoting sustainable development.

On top of that, he laid the foundation for a new Polypropylene Plant at NRL. This move will supercharge Assam’s petrochemical industry, create jobs, and drive overall progress in the region.

PM Modi’s two-day Assam visit wrapped up a packed schedule. The day before, he joined a lively roadshow in Guwahati and honored the birth centenary of legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika, a Bharat Ratna awardee. Paying tribute, Modi said, “Bhupen Da was a great champion of India’s unity and integrity. Decades ago, when the North East faced neglect and burned in the fires of violence and separatism, Bhupen Da kept giving voice to the unity of India even in those tough times. He dreamed of a prosperous North East and sang songs for Assam. Today, we are working day and night to make his dreams come true.”

These developments mark a new chapter for Assam’s development, blending tradition with modern progress.
