In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav jumped right into the Swadeshi campaign on Monday, visiting about a dozen shops like jewelry stores and fabric outlets. He chatted with traders and shopkeepers, pushing the idea of buying local to build a stronger India.
Yadav highlighted the fresh GST rate cuts that kicked in on the first day of Navratri, calling it a real “savings festival” for everyone. As he strolled through the bustling market from the Somwara area police outpost to Deepali Saree House, he stuck “GST Savings Festival” stickers on shop windows and warmly greeted customers and owners.
Women shoppers shared their excitement over the lower GST rates, and Yadav agreed, stressing how these changes would bring real savings and boost prosperity for families across Madhya Pradesh. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gifted India huge savings by slashing GST rates,” he told the crowd at the market. “It’s like an early Diwali present from the central government.”
He urged people to choose Swadeshi products—made-in-India goods—to pave the way for a self-reliant India. The state government, Yadav added, wants to encourage buying local items, which form the backbone of the economy. “Under PM Modi’s leadership, this GST move is a game-changer,” he said. “It’s a historic step toward a developed and self-sufficient India that will shape our future.”
Yadav didn’t stop there. He shared Navratri and Dussehra wishes with everyone, picked out some clothes for himself, insisted on a proper bill, and paid using UPI to spotlight digital payments. He also called on folks to spread the word about the new GST rates and make the Swadeshi drive a hit.
Later, the chief minister met with leaders from trade groups, business associations, and social organizations at Motilal Mannulal Dharmshala. He wrapped up the day by visiting Mata Mandir, where he performed Kanya Pujan and sought blessings from young girls.
