Fifth ISIS terror plot suspect arrested in Michigan — after group ‘plotted Pumpkin Day attack’

Federal agents on Wednesday arrested a third suspect linked to a planned ISIS‑inspired attack in Detroit. Ayob Nasser, 19, of Dearborn, Michigan, was taken into custody and charged with helping supply material for the group. Authorities say Nasser and four other residents had plotted a “Pumpkin Day” attack that would mimic the 2015 Paris terrorist bombing.

This arrest follows earlier police moves that brought two Dearborn residents, Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud, to justice. The same team also detained two people from Montclair, New Jersey—Milo Sedarat and Tomas Kaan Guzel—who were connected to the plot.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force says the plan was aimed at a widespread Halloween massacre in Detroit. The arrests underscore the U.S. government’s vigilance against Islamist extremism and upcoming holiday threats.
