Violent Chicago robbery suspect allegedly molested young girl — after he was cut loose with ankle monitor

A 21‑year‑old Chicago man named Davaughn Credit avoided jail for a string of violent robberies and was released on pre‑trial parole last year. After he eluded an ankle monitor, police discovered him a month later at an Indiana home where he allegedly molested an 11‑year‑old girl he had met on Snapchat. The girl’s mother reported that her daughter had left Chicago on November 21 and was later found roughly 80 miles away in Rensselaer, Indiana—apparently in connection with Credit, according to police affidavits.
The next evening, an older sibling found the child, who appeared “high or intoxicated,” and she was rushed to the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. She told authorities that Credit, whom she called “Day Day,” had forced his hands and genitals into her privates during a night she spent at the house. She said she had communicated with him through Snapchat, where his account displayed his name.
On December 5 Credit was located at the same Indiana residence and was taken into custody after he refused to leave a bedroom he had occupied for roughly twenty minutes. Police had known he had been staying there for several weeks. Inside the room they uncovered marijuana and white baggies that tested positive for cocaine. Indiana prosecutors have now charged him with child molestation, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana, while six other occupants of the house were also arrested on drug‑related counts.
Earlier, Credit and at least three other accomplices carried out a two‑hour spree on the night of November 1, robbing four people, according to a report by CWB Chicago. Victims ranged from a 26‑year‑old woman who was threatened with a weapon to a man who was force‑fully taken by the throat and robbed.
