Patna – 25 Nov (LatestNewsX)
With the new Bihar cabinet taking office, the newly appointed ministers are now stepping into their respective portfolios.
Mangal Pandey became Health Minister on Monday, starting his fourth term heading the department. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA leaders, saying he felt honoured to be entrusted with this vital responsibility once again. Pandey expressed confidence that, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s guidance and with the support of the Central Government and Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Bihar’s health services will receive fresh impetus.
During his first address, Pandey announced an extensive hiring plan. He recalled his earlier tenure under Nitish Kumar and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi as a significant learning experience. The recruitment scheme covers 663 Social Service Officer (SSO) posts, 808 dentist positions and 11,389 Grade‑A nurse vacancies—all to be filled by December. He also mentioned 498 nursing‑school teachers already cleared by exam, delayed BTAC recruitments that will start once results are out, and a separate process to complete 12,627 paramedical posts. In addition, 220 Assistant Physician roles, 1,501 Ayush Physician positions, and several thousand Specialist and General Physician (CHO) posts are pending, while 7,600 NHM posts should be filled within the next one to four months. Pandey said that more than 26,000 appointments are in the final stages and that the department is fully committed to modernising healthcare services throughout the state.
Ramkripal Yadav took on charge of the Agriculture Department on Tuesday. In his inaugural remarks he described the ministry as the backbone of Bihar’s economy, acknowledging the leadership’s confidence in him. Yadav highlighted agriculture’s central role in state development, noting that farmers’ prosperity directly determines Bihar’s progress. He announced that boosting productivity, increasing output and doubling or even tripling farmers’ incomes will be top priorities. Stressing swift implementation of central and state schemes, he echoed the Prime Minister’s vision that strong farmers underpin a prosperous India. Yadav called for a corruption‑free, transparent, and coordinated work culture, pledging that all officials and staff will be trusted to act with integrity. He concluded that the Agriculture Ministry is entering a new era marked by speed, efficiency and courtesy.
Information and Public Relations Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary also assumed his portfolio formally. Addressing the media, he pledged to make government communication more effective, transparent and people‑centric. He emphasized that ensuring accurate and timely information reaches the public will be the department’s priority.
