Jack Black’s reaction to Elle Fanning’s admiration was a surprise to everyone. In a recent Vanity Fair lie‑detector interview—link provided—Fanning, 27, confessed that she sees the 56‑year‑old actor as “sex on legs.” She added that Black is “the perfect man,” and “the hottest man I’ve ever seen in my life.”
During a TikTok clip shared by Sony Pictures, Paul Rudd—fellow “Anaconda” cast member—played the footage for the pair. Rudd described the moment as “a real emotion.”
He quipped about Fanning’s enthusiastic praise: “Have you ever heard of body dysmorphia? The situation is the opposite—she looks at me, a so‑called goblin gremlin, and somehow sees a gorgeous creature.”
Jack Black responded, noting that Fanning might have “that goblin dysmorphia.” He added, “Thank you. I appreciate the compliment, but I have to close my eyes because I can’t quite process what I’m hearing there. But thank you, Elle.”
He lightly teased her boyfriend Gus Wenner, saying, “To the boyfriend,” to whom he added, “Dude, we’ve got no beef. We’re cool. I didn’t do nothing to deserve this attention.”
Rudd echoed Fanning’s sentiment. “I will say on behalf of Elle Fanning, I get it,” he declared. “I really do. I adore you, Jack. As does America! As does the world! Elle’s got it right. Elle’s got it right.”
The banter continued when Black rebuked Rudd (“No you don’t you son of a biscuit”), to which Rudd simply replied, “I really do!”
Fanning has spoken about Jack Black before. On “The Tonight Show” in 2024, she revealed that Wenner, 35, told the “Nacho Libre” star at the Golden Globes, “You’re her hall pass.”
At the same event, Black’s wife, Tanya Haden—who married him in 2006—was present. Haden, 54, loved the remark. “We were laughing,” Fanning said, blushing from the admission.
She recalled the moment they took a selfie together: her boyfriend encouraged her to approach Black, after which he commented to Black, “You’re her hall pass, by the way!”
Later that month, Fanning attended the 35th Annual Gotham Film Awards with FIJI Water, while the couple also captured another photo together.
She remembered the scene of waiting at the valet and her partner urging her forward: “Go up to him, go up to him,” she recalled, adding humor that Black’s “hall pass” status was confirmed again.
