Actor Dhanush has a straightforward warning for movie fans: Don’t trust those sneaky reviews that pop up before a film even hits the screens. Speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming directorial venture Idli Kadai in Coimbatore, Dhanush urged audiences to form their own opinions by watching the movie themselves or chatting with friends who’ve actually seen it.
"After the movie releases, you’ll see reviews flooding in at 8 a.m., even though the first show starts at 9 a.m.," Dhanush said. "Please don’t buy into those. If a film kicks off at 9 a.m., you won’t really know how it is until around 12:30 p.m. But even before it ends, tons of reviews hit the internet. Skip them—watch the film, decide for yourself, or ask your buddies who’ve caught a screening."
Dhanush stressed that the film industry desperately needs this kind of healthy vibe right now. He wants every movie to succeed, not just his own. "All films should do well. Producers, crew, and even businesses outside cinema rely on successful releases," he added. "It’s in your hands, folks. Check out real reviews and judge for yourself. That’s my request."
For those new to Idli Kadai, the Tamil film stars Dhanush and Nithya Menen in the lead roles, with Dhanush also directing. Production comes from his Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures. Kiran Koushik handles cinematography, while G.V. Prakash composes the music. Originally set for April 10, the worldwide release now shifts to October 1.
Buzz around the cast is building too. Arun Vijay steps in as the antagonist, promising an epic face-off with Dhanush that fans can’t wait to see. Shalini Pandey also takes on a key role, confirming earlier media speculation.
With Idli Kadai blending drama and action in Tamil cinema, Dhanush’s call for fair play could help shape how audiences approach new releases like this one.
