India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar sent warm National Day greetings to Nepal on Friday, emphasizing the strong bond between New Delhi and Kathmandu. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Best wishes to the Government and people of Nepal on their National Day. Committed to further deepening of our multifaceted partnership.” This message highlights India’s ongoing commitment to boosting ties with its close neighbor.
The day before, on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic chat with Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki. PM Modi congratulated her on Nepal’s National Day and her new role, sharing best wishes from the Indian government and people. He also expressed deep condolences for the lives lost in recent protests across Nepal.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) statement, PM Modi assured full support from India to help Nepal restore peace and stability. He stressed India’s eagerness to strengthen the special relationship between the two nations and back Nepal’s push for progress and prosperity. Nepal PM Karki thanked Modi for India’s steady support and echoed the desire to build even stronger bilateral ties.
During Friday’s weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated India’s firm backing for Nepal’s interim government under PM Karki. He said India remains ready to collaborate for the growth and well-being of people in both countries, underscoring the deep-rooted India-Nepal partnership.
This exchange comes at a key time, as Nepal works through political changes, and it shows how India continues to stand by its Himalayan neighbor in times of need.
