BJP supporters have no respect for Constitution, SC: KTR on Waqf

BRS Leader KT Rama Rao Slams BJP Supporters Over Waqf Act Row

In a sharp attack, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has accused BJP supporters of disrespecting the Indian Constitution and Supreme Court orders. This comes after BRS praised the Supreme Court’s recent interim ruling on the controversial Waqf Amendment Act 2025.

KT Rama Rao, often called KTR, took to X (formerly Twitter) to hit out at what he called "BJP bhakts." He said, "As expected, some BJP bhakts are rattled by the BRS Party welcoming the Supreme Court’s interim order on the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. They respect neither the Indian Constitution nor the orders of the apex court!"

KTR didn’t stop there. He called out BJP leaders for hypocrisy, pointing to a recent terror attack. "Let me remind them of their shameless hypocrisy. Barely five months ago, 26 innocent civilians were massacred in a Pak-sponsored terror attack. Yet, the ruling BJP has no qualms about our national team playing cricket with the very country that is sponsoring terrorism on our soil. This, even as the victims’ families have registered strong protests against this inhuman betrayal," he posted.

The BRS leader stressed that true nationalism isn’t about empty slogans. "Unlike your chest-thumping brand of pseudo-nationalism, BRS is truly nationalist in letter and spirit. For us, nationalism means treating every Indian equally, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. It means knowing the fine line between nationalism and jingoism," KTR added.

This isn’t the first time KTR has spoken up on the Waqf Amendment Act. On Monday, he welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim order, which puts a hold on key parts of the law. BRS has long raised alarms about the Act, saying it hides divisive intentions behind claims of reform. "We fought against the problematic clauses of the Waqf Amendment Act, questioning how one decides who is a Muslim or how a government official can arbitrarily determine ownership of Waqf properties," KTR explained. "There are numerous such issues with the Act that could fuel divisive politics."

As a former minister, KTR highlighted BRS’s commitment to India’s unity. The party battled hard against the Act’s troubling sections in the Rajya Sabha. "BRS has always strived to protect the communal fabric of the nation, prioritising unity and strength over politics," he said. He promised that BRS will keep fighting for a strong, united India whenever needed.

The Waqf Amendment Act 2025 has sparked heated debates across India, with critics like BRS arguing it risks communal harmony. As the Supreme Court case unfolds, political tensions in Hyderabad and beyond are only heating up.
