New Delhi, Nov 2 – Delhi’s BJP blasted AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj for a video that critics say mis‑represented the city’s clean‑up work.
The BJP spokesperson, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, said Bharadwaj’s clip, posted this Sunday, claimed the Yamuna river had slipped back into a “deplorable” state even after the Rekha Gupta‑led government’s efforts to tidy the waterway and cut Delhi’s air pollution. Kapoor slammed the claim as a “political malice” and called it a falsehood that ignores the progress the current administration has made.
Bharadwaj’s video suggested that the river’s condition had worsened again, sparking a flurry of tweets from Delhi’s ruling party. The BJP urged the public to remember that the Arvind Kejriwal‑Atishi government in office for a decade saw a cleaner Yamuna and a reduction in airborne smog before the current term.
In the clip, Bharadwaj also criticized what he called “data manipulation” by the government, accusing it of using sprinklers and “smog guns” to forge better air‑quality numbers. Kapoor countered that the Kuja‑era officials, including Environment Minister Gopal Rai, routinely released daily data about such measures.
BJP spokesman Kapoor warned that Bharadwaj’s remarks could backfire, labeling them a “political self‑goal” that reflects AAP’s tendency for excessive talking.
