Earthquake of magnitude 3.6 rocks Myanmar

A mild earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit Myanmar early Friday morning, shaking the region at 3:43 a.m. IST. The National Center for Seismology reported the quake originated about 60 kilometers below the Earth’s surface, with its epicenter at latitude 25.05 N and longitude 97.61 E.

In a post on X, the center shared the details: “EQ of M: 3.6, On: 03/10/2025 03:43:06 IST, Lat: 25.05 N, Long: 97.61 E, Depth: 60 Km, Location: Myanmar.”

This comes just a day after another smaller tremor rattled the country. Late Wednesday night, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at 2:19 a.m. IST, with its epicenter only 10 kilometers deep at latitude 26.57 N and longitude 96.43 E.

The seismology center confirmed those details on X as well: “EQ of M: 3.1, On: 02/10/2025 02:19:27 IST, Lat: 26.57 N, Long: 96.43 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar.”

No immediate reports of damage or injuries have surfaced from either event, but experts continue to monitor seismic activity in Myanmar, a country prone to earthquakes due to its location near tectonic plates. If you’re in the area, stay prepared and follow local safety alerts for the latest on Myanmar earthquakes.
