BJP MP Anurag Thakur Slams Congress and RJD Over MK Stalin’s Stage at Bihar Event
Patna, Bihar: BJP MP Anurag Thakur fired sharp questions at the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Friday for giving a platform to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin during an INDIA bloc rally in Bihar. Thakur didn’t hold back, accusing Stalin of insulting Lord Ram and opposing the Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya.
Talking to reporters in Patna, Thakur said, "This man (MK Stalin) doesn’t follow Lord Ram, he opposed the Ram Temple, and his son made shocking statements disrespecting Sanatan Dharma. So why did Congress and RJD invite him to their stage? Bihar’s people deserve answers."
Thakur’s outburst comes amid fresh controversy sparked by Tamil Nadu Minister Durai Murugan, a senior DMK leader. Murugan rejected the idea of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu, calling it unnecessary. He took a dig at Bihar, saying the state isn’t like his home turf where people stay alert and can’t be fooled by political games.
In Vellore, Murugan told the media, "Tamil Nadu isn’t Bihar. Our people are aware and politically sharp. Governance here follows Thalapathy’s (likely referring to a key leader) strong leadership—no such tricks will work on us or our leader."
Murugan’s comments responded to the nationwide push for Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. On Wednesday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) held a key meeting with Chief Electoral Officers from all states and Union Territories. They reviewed preparations for this voter list update drive.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar kicked off the third such conference this year, joined by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. The move aims to clean up electoral rolls ahead of upcoming polls, ensuring accuracy and preventing fraud.
This political clash highlights growing tensions between BJP and the opposition INDIA alliance, especially on issues like Ram Temple, Sanatan Dharma, and election reforms. As Bihar gears up for its polls, such barbs could heat up the campaign trail. Stay tuned for more updates on BJP vs Congress-RJD face-off and ECI’s electoral roll revision plans.
