Guwahati Masters: Sanskar, Mithun set up All-Indian men’s singles final; Tanvi Sharma in women’s singles finale

The Guwahati Masters, part of the 2025 BWF World Tour, went to the host nation as both of its top male players, Sanskar Saraswat and Mithun Manjunath, secured straight‑sets victories in their semifinal ties, setting up an all‑Indian clash in the final. They each won their matches in under 40 minutes, with Sanskar edging Indonesian Dendi Triansyah 21‑19, 21‑19, while Mithun defeated fellow Indian Tushar Suveer 22‑20, 21‑8.
In the women’s singles, rising star Tan Sharma, who already holds a silver from the Junior Worlds, stunned third seed Hina Akechi 21‑18, 21‑16 to reach the final. She will aim to complete a double triumph for the home crowd on Sunday. Her opponent, Tung Ciou‑Tong of Chinese Taipei, came from a deficit in the semifinals to beat Ashmita Chaliha 12‑21, 21‑17, 21‑14.
The men’s doubles title was dominated by the top‑seeded Indian pair Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Sai Pratheek, who ran out a 21‑16, 22‑20 win over Indonesia’s Prasetya Anselmus and Ramadhan Pulung in 38 minutes, booking themselves a place in the final against Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing.
In mixed doubles, the seeds Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde fell just short, losing a tight three‑set match 15‑21, 21‑19, 17‑21 to Thailand’s Tanadon Punpanichi and Fungfa Korpthammakit after 59 minutes. Women’s doubles saw Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam knocked out by Malaysia’s Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting 21‑14, 21‑10.
The 2025 Guwahati Masters is the third edition of the premier international tournament in Northeast India and carries a total prize fund of US$110,000.
